VersaGroup Software
VersaGroup has been developing software applications since 1983. Our first product was a relational database system know as RIM and used extensively by the aerospace community. More recently we developed and supported VersaDoc, a very versatile document control and records management system. Now, we are developing software for the leisure crowd - those who have time to listen to music or create family websites. We hope you enjoy our first three offerings and look forward to your requests for new and interesting applications.
Our first three applications for the leisure crowd are a versatile music management system, a desktop player for the SONOS wireless ZonePlayer system, and a Windows 6.1 mobile application to control your SONOS system. Currently, there is no charge for these applications - though that could change in the future.
OK - That was written a few years ago and as time has passed we decided to develop an application for the Window Phone 7.5 platform that is a little more envolved. Soooooooo, we will charge for our newer applications which you will find on the Windows Phone Marketplace.
SonPhon - Sonos Control for Windows Phone

SonPhon is our second Sonos controller for Windows based phones. Our first application, VersaZones, was for the Windows Mobile 6.5 environment, and while it had some success, the problems with wifi connections kept it from being very useful. With the release of Windows Phone Mango, it was again feasible to develop a Windows Phone application for the Sonos system. SonPhon is that application.
SonPhon provides complete control of your Sonos system. It was developed from the ground up for the new metro style interface that provides easy access to all your Sonos needs. Right from the initial start page, you can control all your zones as each zone has its own ‘thumbnail’ area. Play, pause, next, previous and mute are instantly available for each of the zones. An equalizer that provides volume, bass, treble and balance is a simple click away.
When you are ready for more control of a single zone, simply press the artwork icon and you will be whisked to another page where you can view the queue, access your music library, set sleep timers and add alarms for the selected zone.
On the ‘playing’ page you can set the zone to repeat and/or shuffle your queue as it plays. Of course, all the standard controls for play, pause, next and previous are available. There are also two ways to control volume. One is a quick pop-up control for volume and mute; the other is an equalizer that provides bass, treble, balance and volume controls for the zone. Also available on this page is the ability to rename a zone.
When accessing the music library, you can view by artist, album, genre, playlists, or favorite radio stations. All of the queue management functions are available such as: play now, play next, add to queue, replace queue and play, save queue, delete queue, and delete from queue.
On the timers page, you can set the sleep timer for the zone or add, edit and delete alarms. When adding alarms, you can choose what music you want to play when the alarm is activated.

the Investor

Portions of 'the Investor' application were originally developed for a client wanting to replace a DOS based application he was using to compute bond analysis. It seemed like a good fit for the Windows Phone 7.5 platform, and the fact that we could use SkyDrive to exchange data between the phone and desktop made it even more attractive for development. After a few months of 18 hour days, e are pleased to announce 'the Investor' is now available on the Windows Phone Marketplace. A trial version is available that provides full functioanlity other than you can only save two items to the database.
'the Investor' currently consists of 7 financial calculators: corporate bonds, horizon returns, treasury bills (TBills), treasury notes/bonds, real estate mortgage amortization, real estate invesment return on equity, and date differences.
-
The Corporate Bonds calculator provides for the computation of bond yields, accrued interest, coupon interest, interest on interest and total income realizable at bond maturity. Regular, callabl and zero coupon bonds are supported. Different coupon frequencies and day count basis can be selected.
-
The Horizon Returns calculator provides for the computation of total return of a bond over a given period of time period (horizon). Horizon analysis gives an indication of how well a bond will perform over a time period that is shorter than maturity, say one year or five years.
-
The Treasury Bills calculator supports the computation of bond yield equivalents (B.Y.E.) given an ask discount rate or ask price. If a bid price or bid discount rate is also provided, the spread is calculated. The standard 4, 13, 26, 52 week bills are supported as well as a user input of days to maturity.
-
The Treasury Note/Treasury Bond calculator uses issue and maturity dates along with interest and price to compute an investment yield. In addition you can enter a number of bills to purchase and get purchase and income at maturity data. All computations assume semi-annual coupons and an actual/actual day count basis.
-
The Real Estate Mortgage calculator has four calculation modes:
-
Monthly Payment - given the price, down payment, term, interest rate.
-
Down Payment - given the price, term, interest rate, monthly payment
-
Term - given the price, down payment, interest rate, monthly payment.
-
Price - given the down payment, term, interest rate, monthly payment.
For each of these different modes, an amortization schedule will be generated and a graph showing the yearly totals of principal, interest, taxes and insurance is provided. The amortization schedule can be viewed as either monthly or yearly.
If you do provide an estimate of the taxes and insurance and are computing for a price, the monthly average for taxes and insurance will be subtracted from the monthly payment before computing for the price. this insures the monthly payment will remain exactly what you enter. Of course the mortgage payment will be less as taxes and insurance were subtracted from the monthly payment before calculating the price.
-
The Real Estate Return On Equity (ROE) calculator will help you make decisions about an investment property. You can choose between three investment types: vacation rental, nightly rental or yearly rental. For each of these types you can compute mortgage payment, operating costs, gross income, cash flow, and a set of results. The set of results include: gross operating income(GOI), net operating income(NOI), cash flow after taxes(CFAT), gross rent multiplier(GRM), capitalization rate(Cap Rate), break-even ratio, and finally the return on equity(ROE).
-
The Date Difference calculator computes date differences based on six day count basis formulas and has two modes: Differences between two dates - This mode will give the day difference and also an interest factor for use in computing interest.; Coupon days given settlement and maturity dates. This mode will provide actual accrual days and coupon factors for use in computing accrued interest on a bond.
You can easily name and save data associated with calculations and then upload the saved data to your SkyDrive account.
